Scientific collections
There are more than 13 million collection objects in 37 scientific collections at the Universität Hamburg - from A for anatomy to Z for zoology. Some of the objects are hundreds or even thousands of years old, while others were created only a few decades ago.
A common feature of all collections is that they represent an invaluable research infrastructure for science. This is because the collected objects are not just relics of a bygone era, but can make an important contribution to answering current and future research questions. Modern examination methods that were not yet available at the time of collection, such as molecular genetic analyses and advanced X-ray capabilities, play an important role in this.
With the FUNDus! Research Portal of the Universität Hamburg, the scientific collection objects of the Universität Hamburg are made accessible partly in digital form via the Internet. The thematically arranged offer is aimed at everyone who wants to take advantage of every opportunity to research and discover with enthusiasm and joy. You are cordially invited to discover the interesting, exciting and sometimes bizarre objects.
