Dissertations

A dissertation, doctoral thesis, or doctoral dissertation is an independent scientific work to obtain a doctoral degree at a scientific university with the right to award doctorates. In addition to the publication of the dissertation, an oral examination (viva voce) or oral defense of the dissertation (disputation) is part of obtaining the doctoral degree.

From the year 2020 (and in some cases before), dissertations will be recorded in the Research Information System of the Universität Hamburg as a special form of publication. Older dissertations, back to the founding years of the university, can be found in a tabular representation.
